Homemade Fire Cider Tonic with ACV for Fighting Cold and Improving Digestion

Have you ever heard of the folk tonic fire cider? It is a recipe that most people would be terrified to try out because of the taste. After all, it has, ginger, onion, garlic, hot peppers, horseradish and even vinegar.

Not to even mention that it looks disgusting. However, it can be very beneficial for the overall health. The reasons behind this are plenty. Firstly, the horseradish contains antibacterial properties which can improve digestion, appetite and gastric secretion.

The ginger, on the other hand, is useful for warming the stomach and easing nausea, vomiting, chills, coughs, and colds. Moreover, it can be useful for congestion and improve the health of the body. But, if you add the garlic, the benefits take a whole new level.

The garlic can open up the pores in the skin and improve the immune function. Therefore, it is useful for treating yeast, kidney, strep, and ear infections.

How to Make Fire Cider

Because this tonic is a folk remedy, there are different variations you can try out. But, the main ingredients are garlic, onion, chili pepper, ginger, and horseradish. Moreover, they are all infused in apple cider vinegar with some honey, to get those amazing health benefits.

In addition, feel free to add some other ingredients like rosemary, thyme, citrus, and turmeric. All these ingredients have antibacterial and antiviral properties. Here is what you will need to make your own fire cider.

Ingredients
  • 10 cloves of chopped garlic
  • half a cup of freshly grated organic ginger root
  • 1/4 teaspoon of cayenne powder
  • 1/4 cup of raw honey or more, depends on the taste
  • half a cup freshly grated organic horseradish root
  • lemon juice and lemon zest from one lemon
  • organic apple cider vinegar
  • 1 medium chopped onion
  • 1 tablespoon of organic turmeric powder
  • 2 thinly chopped jalapeno peppers
  • 2 tablespoons of dried rosemary leaves
Instructions

Place all the fruits and herbs in a glass jar.

But, beware, there will be some overwhelming smell. Next, pour the apple cider vinegar in the jar until all the ingredients are submerged. Before you put the lid on, use some parchment paper under the lid to avoid touching the plastic or the metal on the lid.

Shake all the ingredients well and store it in a dark place for a month. Now your shake is ready. It is time to strain out the pulp and pour the vinegar into a clean new jar. Squeeze out all the liquid and add some honey to taste.

Stir everything well and consume it daily, especially through the winter with a spoon or add it to your favorite tea.
