Even though everyone knows the risks of drinking sodas, they still do it anyway. The best thing to do is to replace this unhealthy drink with any other drink, even beer. But, that is not easy, isn’t it?
Soda contains something that keeps drawing us to drink more and more of it. The average American drinks 56 gallons of soda per year. Yes, gallons! There are even people who drink more sugary drinks than water.
As frightening as it might sound, these drinks are like some kind of addiction. Not literally of course. The industry that produces these drinks is a multi-billion dollar and a massively popular one. People purchase these drinks worldwide.
But, no other country can compare to the amount of consumption of soda drinks with America. As a result, obesity and other health issues are more rampant in this part of the world.
Major Reasons to Stop Drinking Soda
Whether you call it ‘’soda pop’’, ‘’Coke’’, or just ‘’soda’’, it is important to stop drinking it right away. According to a study, most Americans love drinking this drink. Besides, 25% of the industry represents the soda trading in the US.
Since Americans buy 15 billion gallons of soda, no wonder why this industry is so dominant. Nevertheless, here is how consuming this drink can affect your health.
Sugars
The single most dangerous ingredient in the soda drinks is the sugar. One can of soda contains 10 teaspoons of sugar. In addition, this amount of sugar in liquid form can drastically change the blood sugar and cause problems with the insulin.
In due time, this drink can cause diabetes, health problems, and massive weight gain.
Liver Damage
This drink can be terrible for the liver. Too much soda can raise the risk of cirrhosis and damage your liver.
Obesity
We all know that consuming too much sugar can cause obesity. According to a study from Harvard, 12-year-olds who drank soda had an increased chance of becoming obese than the children who didn’t consume soda on a daily basis.
Soda and Osteoporosis
Soda contains phosphoric acid and a lot of caffeine. As many studies claim, soda can cause an excessive amount of phosphorus in the body which in the end can prevent the absorption of calcium by the body. Due to the lack of calcium, your bones will face numerous health problems.
According to another study, consuming 330 milligrams of caffeine can cause bone loss. Caffeine can obstruct the absorption of calcium and cause it to leak through the urine. No wonder why people suffer from terrible bone health.
Tooth Decay
Drinking too much soda can highly affect your teeth. The reason for this is because soda contains too much acidic, a chemical ingredient that can damage your teeth. Not to even mention that some sugars can also affect the teeth.
