Do you want to lose some weight, but you feel hungry at night? Your body craves for a late night snack, but you are not sure if it is the right thing to do?
Well, we all know how controversial late night snacking can be. We sometimes eat a while before we go to bed, so a few hours later we feel hungry again. As a result, our bodies crave a snack. But which is the safest snack to eat?
Of course, you will need one that won’t affect your weight loss, something that is rich in nutrients, vitamins, and other beneficial properties. Even though many people are against the idea of getting a late night snack, it is still a bad idea to go to bed with an empty stomach.
Instead, you should eat a meal that is low in carbs but full of proteins.
Mozzarella Cheese Sticks
The perfect snack for losing weight and satisfying the cravings is eating some baked mozzarella cheese sticks. Furthermore, these sticks are full of calcium, vitamin D, and protein. However, that doesn’t mean you should overeat.
On the contrary, you should focus on making a small portion for around 3 to 4 sticks per night. To make these cheese sticks, it will take you about 50 min. And the following ingredients for it are ideal for 24 servings.
Here is what you will need to make these mozzarella cheese sticks.
Ingredients
- 1 cup of panko
- 2 tablespoons of milk
- pizza sauce or ketchup
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup of flour
- 12 sticks of mozzarella cheese (frozen)
- 2 tablespoons of butter
- 1 cup of breadcrumbs
Instructions
To make this recipe, start by organizing your sticks of mozzarella cheese. If you purchased prepackaged cheese sticks, unwrap the sticks and cut them in half. Next, mix the panko and the breadcrumbs together in a bowl.
For the best flavor, you can use Italian bread crumbs. Next, beat the eggs and add them to a second bowl. After that add the milk and whisk everything well. Now, you will need another bowl. In the third bowl add the flour and season it with some salt and pepper to taste.
So, now you have to start rolling the cheese sticks first in the flour, then in the egg mixture and after that in the breadcrumbs. When the cheese sticks are evenly coated, place them in the freezer for half an hour.
After half an hour, remove them from the freezer and place them on a baking sheet. Melt the butter and drizzle it over the cheese sticks. Finally, bake them at 400°F for 8 to 10 minutes or until they get a golden brown texture.
Now, your mozzarella sticks are finally ready. Dip them in some ketchup or a sauce to your liking and enjoy!
Note: If you are lactose intolerant or a vegan, you can eat some walnuts and almonds instead. They are rich in proteins and vitamins, and they can be exceptionally beneficial for your health.
